BULK containers or containers for bulk cargo, have three cargo hatches in the roof, each with a diameter of approx. 455 mm (1 3/4 “).
The distance between the hatches (centre to centre) is 1.83 m (6′). On the side of the door, there are two unloading hatches, which sometimes are equipped with short discharge tubes to guide the bulk load.
Alternatively, for emptying the containers, two unloading hatches can be door mounted. These containers can also be used for general cargo. Lashing rings are mounted on the upper side rails to secure the load.
Bulk containers may be equipped with forklift pockets, which allow handling by forklifts.
